156 - Pre-Defined Data Capture #156
Item Receive Goods Entry: NEWRECV.DAT

The BreakPoint Retail Cash System provides the ability of collecting and exporting PLU item receiving information. This feature is designed to permit cashiers to perform PLU Item Receiving directly at the register and to store that information in the NEWRECV.DAT file for exportation to a backroom inventory system at a later time.

This is achieved by implementing BreakPoint Pre-defined Data Capture #156 at the cashier keyboard. This BreakPoint Technical Newsletter should be accompanied with the file PSDC156.TPL which contains the Data Capture programming required to collect the PLU Item Receiving transaction data.

To implement the Pre-defined Data Capture #156, first copy the PSDC156.TPL file to your BreakPoint directory. Once you have the PSDC156.TPL file copied over, you may implement the Data Capture Function #156 to the collect New PLU Item Information in the following manner.

The Frequent Shopper Data Capture can be programmed to be activated under its own key operation. To effect this type of implementation, select KEYBOARD LAYOUT of the ALT Programming Menu. Next, select CASHIER OPERATIONS and select KEY FUNCTION #156 for Data Capture 156. Select the key you wish to use for PLU Item Receiving Entry and designate it as the KEY FUNCTION #156. Once you have completed the programming for the key operation, you may activate the PLU Item Receiving Data Capture at any time by simply pressing that key.

Unless altered, this Pre-defined Data Capture Function #155 will create a detailed transaction file of each PLU Item Receiving Information entry that occurs. This file will have the filename:

Filename: NEWRECV.DAT

The NEWRECV.DAT file will contain records of the following record format:

Record Format:

PLU CODE, LTH 15, COL 1-15, ALPHANUMERIC, LEFT JUSTIFIED, BLANK FILLED
RECEIVE QUANTITY, LTH 5, COL 17-21, NUMERIC, RIGHT JUSTIFIED, ZERO FILLED
COST PRICE, LTH 7, COL 23-29, NUMERIC, NO DECIMAL POINT, RIGHT JUSTIFIED, ZERO FILLED
SELL PRICE, LTH 7, COL 31-37, NUMERIC, NO DECIMAL POINT, RIGHT JUSTIFIED, ZERO FILLED

The PLU Code and Quantity Received are required fields. Cost Price and Sell Price are optional and may be left blank if desired.

Each PLU Item Receive transaction will be recorded on its own line and terminated with a carriage return and linefeed character. This file is intended to be imported into any backroom inventory control system designed for item receiving importing.
