PLU Importing and Exporting PLU Item information can be easily imported into BreakPoint or exported out of BreakPoint at any time. There are a variety of methods available for transferring PLU Item information to and from BreakPoint. For example, BreakPoint can support both remote transfers (across modems and phone lines) and local transfers (across a network or serial communications cable). PLU Item information transfers may be initiated by the cashier at the front of the store or by the computer operator at the back of the store. PLU Item transfers can be performed at any time, even while the cashier is actively transacting sales. BreakPoint also supports PLU Item information transfer interfaces with a variety of BreakPoint Companion Products. The PLU Import key permits PLU Item information imports to be initiated by the cashier. This is an excellent feature for standalone BreakPoint registers to which PLU information is uploaded from a remote site. When fully implemented, BreakPoint provides a delightful PLU maintenance system for remote management control, in which a PLU import file can be quickly transmitted from a remote site and the cashier is immediately provided with a detailed Clerk Message about the PLU import. Since the actual import of PLU information can be left to local store manager control, PLU import files can be sent for immediate import or for import at a later time (ie. when the sales is to take effect, for example).This facility is extremely handy for Corporate Store Chains, Franchise Chains, and 24-Hour Retail Store management. For multi-lane and other local area network environments, BreakPoint provides a special PLU Import / Export Utility called BPPLUIE. The BPPLUIE utility performs both PLU importing and PLU exporting from any workstation on the network and can perform these operations even while the cashier is actively transacting sales. All PLU import and export operations support the complete set of BreakPoint PLU Item information, so that any or all PLU Item fields can be updated at any time. The PLU import operation is also able to perform PLU Item Delete and PLU Item Quantity on Hand Adjustment imports.
